Do You Remember Your First Time?

Do you remember your first time really, truly, wildly expressing yourself?

For some of us our creative expression was cut short by the comments or ridicule of others. Which then felt like our creative expression was a waste of time. That we weren't good enough for it. Research has shown this often happens by the time we are eight years old!!!

For others, we were never given the space or time to creatively express ourselves, which then felt like our creative expression was not accepted or important and therefore never explored.

And for others, like me, I was given free-range to express myself but usually under someone else's rules and expectations. This meant I was always creating for a teacher or simply to earn an "A." Over time, I was no longer emotionally invested in my process and as a result, lost interest in my own creativity. Here, expression was seen as a means to an end and eventually the spontaneity and mystery of my own process died.

Aching to reclaim my creative voice I attended my first process painting workshop in 2012 and this is what I rediscovered during my first workshop:

FREEDOM

Wild, raw, expansive freedom

The ability to take up space

and not feeling sorry for it

Big, bold, loud colors

Quiet

Surprise

Adventure

Curiosity

Mystery

An internal journey

Magic

Emotion

Untapped ENERGY

Aliveness

Exploration

A Deepening

A coming home to

An internal listening

Respect

Satisfaction, contentment and completion.

Can you imagine all of that in one weekend? It was AMAZING. Our creativity is endless and we have so much more exploring to do. No matter where your creative journey has been, you are always welcome to join us and create a new path.
